More news in from Fergus. Interference will be playing at the new Macroom Lughnasa festival this coming August 22nd.

IRISH music festivals were born in Macroom. Now thanks to local effort once more they are returning to the town. A new arts festival ‘Lughnasa Festival Macroom 2009′ takes place from August 17 to 23 keeping up the tradition of the former Mountain Dew festivals of the 1980s.

The festival features music, comedy, theatre, art, crafts, food, children’s activities and exhibitions. “We aim to showcase up and coming Cork talent and the centrepiece of the festival will be a music concert in the marquee in the Castle Grounds on Saturday,” says organiser Mark Cronin. Featured are FRED, Director, Interference, Remma, Elly O’Keeffe & Band, My Evil Ex, KingSear and Haymaker.

Switzerland Report – The Craic Was Mighty!

Interference are back from their short Swiss tour, and Fergus has sent us in this update:

Switzerland was simply great fun and gigs. Baden is a wonderful place and the audiences were as good as it gets.

Thanks to Tony, Madeline and Dahlia for looking after us and to their Prima Vista restaurant and music club for putting on the shows.Great food and audiences. Also Big thanks to Danny and Barbara for being such great hosts to the band.

To Nick for the show in the garden of the amazing Villa Boveri.

To Benny for the brewery gig. It was so cool as the stage was on an industrial lift. We played 3 sets and would just raise and lower the stage to get on and off. Great beer too! Areal Lagerebrau, Wettingen was the spot.

Last but not least to Heinz for setting the whole thing up. The band was made up of Paul Tiernan on gtr and vox, Maurice Seezer on piano and vox, Bertrand Galen on cello and Jessie Kennedy on vox and myself of course. Jessie was launching her own album, ‘Field Of The Wicked’ which added great excitement to the final show. In general we mixed it up taking turns singing songs. The craic was mighty!

News just in from Fergus. Interference will be playing an extra gig on their short Swiss tour this June.
The new date is Friday. june 19th: Areal Lagerebrau, Wettingen. The gig is a free one, with a Paul Tiernan set as well, held in the atmospheric surroundings of a brewery!
